Logitech: Designing a Positive Future

The Challenge

Logitech is a global leader in personal technology, designing products that connect people to digital experiences—from gaming peripherals to workplace collaboration tools. With meaningful momentum around sustainability—carbon labeling at scale, pioneering use of recycled plastics, climate-positive commitments—the company faced a critical challenge: its sustainability story was fragmented and invisible.

Internally, teams operated in silos, each telling different versions of the impact story. Externally, the narrative was initiative-driven rather than strategic. The company lacked a cohesive architecture that could unify efforts, differentiate positioning, and resonate across all audiences—from enterprise buyers to gaming communities. Sustainability felt like a corporate obligation, not an extension of what Logitech had always done: designing tools that bring people closer together.

The Transformation

We First led Logitech through comprehensive discovery—stakeholder interviews, competitive analysis, materials audit, and workshop facilitation—to surface tensions, opportunities, and white space. From this work emerged seven critical insights: build buy-in with form and function, anchor with strategic context, make the platform tangible and human, own the collaborative catalyst position, resonate equally with all audiences, clarify social stance, and build confidence to push boundaries.

We First developed a refined communications architecture that established "Designing a Positive Future" as the sustainability platform, supported by three strategic pillars: Design to Breakthrough (Take Action for People + Planet), Design to Ignite (Catalyze the Industry), and Design to Scale (Collaborate to Scale). Each pillar was grounded in concrete impact activations—from Carbon Clarity and Next Life Plastics to Design for Good (accessibility and gender equity) to partnerships with iFixit, Girls Who Code, and WBENC.

The architecture scaffolded sustainability to Logitech's purpose ("Ignite breakthroughs for all"), mission, and vision, ensuring strategic coherence across the enterprise.

The Impact

Logitech now has a sustainability platform that:

  • Unifies the organization around a single, scalable narrative that works across gaming, workspace, and creative categories
  • Differentiates in a commoditized market by owning the position as a collaborative catalyst that inspires industry-wide change
  • Integrates environmental and social impact holistically, making clear that what's good for the planet is good for people
  • Resonates across all stakeholders, translating technical achievements into language that matters to consumers, buyers, investors, and talent
  • Positions sustainability as a growth lever, not a compliance obligation—scaffolding impact to purpose in ways that drive adoption and premium positioning

The result is a company that doesn't just make sustainable products—it designs a more sustainable and equitable future by leading collaboratively, acting decisively, and inspiring others to join.
